Executive chef & partner owner, Gary Cooper was born on March 3rd 1963. He started chefing at the age of 15. His studies in the culinary field were obtained n England & Australia in the years 1978 to 1981.
His three years of overseas cooking experience include the countries of England, France & South Africa.
Bella Vedere opened in December 2004. With Gary's already established reputation & devoted relationships with local producers, Gary was able to develop a menu that changes daily supporting as much as possible local farmers which would in turn assure the supply of pure & fresh ingredients.
As sustainable agriculture grows in the Yarra Valley, Gary is able to support & use local produce only.
Over the past 28 years of Gary's career, he has owned & operated two of his own restaurants. He has earned 2 chefs hats at Cottswold House (owners @ the time Mike & Sylvia Johnson), he established & operated Chateau Yering earning 3 chefs hats for several years running @ Eleanors Restaurant & established & ran Sweet Water Cafe. Gary was at this point invited to the James Beard foundation in New York.
Although Bella Vedere has only been open for three years it has consistently gained a hat each year. Gary Coopers attitude & devotion to his cooking is well and truly respected by the industry & his peers that have worked with him over the past 28 years. His technical knowledge & ability alongside his constant creativity has certainly secured his reputation as one of the greater chefs in Melbourne, Australia.
